Bad spheroidised annealing structure - Heat treatment defects
Figure 1: Rod wire 16.00 mm round - spheroidised, steel 1.7102, Mag. 500x.
Defect name: Bad spheroidised annealing structure
Record No.: 3166
Type of defect (Internal/Surface): Internal
Defect classification: Heat treatment defects
Steel name: 1.7102 steel
Steel composition in weight %: No data.
Note: The reason for bad annealing structure, at constructional and tool steels, is almost always an annealing with wrong heat treatment parameters. Temperature and annealing time play the largest role. The initial structure before annealing can affect the result also. For example, bainitische structures can get spheroidised better than a perlitic structure condition.
