TENAX300 Steel
Steel name: TENAX300
Diagram No.: 1784
AISI/SAE designation: AISI H11 (with reduced Si and P contents)
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.36% C, 0.30% Si, 5.0% Cr, 1.4% Mo, 0.40% V
Steel group: Hot work tool steels
Properties: No data
Applications: Dies and components for die casting of aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous alloys, such as zinc, tin and lead. Tools for hot extrusion of Al alloys, brass and magnesium alloys. Dies and punches for forging, including hot-upsetting, use as inserts, shear blades and all types of dies for hot work that involves shock. Steel is also adequate for use in injection molds for not chlorinated thermoplastic polymers, due to its high capability to polishing.
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.
Heat Treatment
Hardening: Preheat tools at 780/820 ºC and transfer them to another furnace hold at 1000/1040 ºC/Salt-bath at 500/550 ºC, Oil, Forced air.
Tempering: Tools must be tempered immediately after hardening, as soon as they reach 60 ºC. It is necessary, at least, triple tempering; after each tempering, tools must be slowly cooled to room temperature. The first tempering treatment should be performed at 540 ºC, and the other treatments between 540-650 ºC, depending on the desired hardness, as shown on the tempering curve.
