Properties: No data
Applications: Chisels (hand and pneumatic), bending tools, cold shear blades, for sheets with thickness higher than 10 mm or for plates and billets. Punches and other cold work dies, when high toughness (and lower wear resistance) are required. Hot shear blades, forging dies and other hot work tools, including that used in intense water cooled operations.

Heat Treatment
Hardening: Pre-heating: 650 - 700 ºC. Hardening: 930 - 960 ºC. After preheating, tools must be carried to another furnace, holding 30 min after soaking (after tool is fully heated throughout). Quenching may be done in: a) Salt bath at 500/550 ºC. b) Warm quenching oil. c) Vacuum, with high pressure circulated gas. d) Air blast.
Tempering: According to diagram below, avoiding 310 to 430 ºC range. Tempering temperatures should be suitable to the necessary hardness (see diagram), avoiding the range 310-430 ºC due to temper embrittlement. Double tempering is required and after each one tools must cool down to room temperature. After soaking, holding time of at least 2h is necessary.
