ATLAS 4340 Steel
Steel name: ATLAS 4340
Diagram No.: 1875
AISI/SAE designation: 4340
JIS designation: SCNM447
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.37-0.44% C, 0.10-0.35% Si, 0.55-0.90% Mn, max. 0.040% P, max. 0.040% S, 0.65-0.95% Cr, 0.20-0.35% Mo, 1.55-2.00% Ni
Steel group: Structural steels
Properties: Atlas 4340 is a nominally 1.8 percent Nickel Chromium Molybdenum low alloy steel of high hardenability, with high strength and toughness in relatively large sections achieved with a “quenchand- temper” heat treatment. A contemporary alternative to 4340 is Atlas 6582 through-hardening steel that has improved through-hardening characteristics and offers superior impact properties to 4340 at equivalent strength levels.
Applications: No data
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.
