SA718 Steel
Steel name: SA718
Diagram No.: 2053
DIN designation: NiCr19Fe19Nb5Mo3
Mat.No. (Wr.Nr.) designation: 1.4668
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.05% C, max. 0.35% Si, max. 0.35% Mn, 53.00% Ni, 19.00% Cr, 5.00% Nb, 3.00% Mo, 0.90% Ti, 0.50% Al, Fe balance
Steel group: Nickel alloys
Properties: Nickel base super alloy. Extreme high temperature strength. Particularly suitable as hot work tool steel for forming work with strong accumulation of heat, when heat resistance of martensitic steels proves insufficient.
Applications: Dies, mandrel tips and dummy blocks for the extrusion of copper alloys; sintering press tools; hot shear blades; forging dies. Delivery condition: solution annealed and age hardened
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.
Heat Treatment
Hardening: Solution annealing: 980°C; Holding time: 1 h; air cooling. Age hardening: 720°C; Holding time: 8 h; reduce to 620°C; Holding time 8 h; air cooling.
Tempering: See the diagram.
