Properties: Shallow-hardenable, low distortion steel with good machinability, high abrasive wear resistance and low polishing requirements.
Applications: High stress moulds for plastic products; high hardness mould inserts for high abrasive wear applications. All types of blanking dies, e.g. punching dies for up to 6 mm sheets and plastics, screw dies. Abrasive bars.

Heat Treatment
Hardening: Temperature: 800°C. Duration: 1 min per 1 mm wall thickness.
Tempering: Temperature: see curve. Duration: 1 h per 25 mm wall thickness. Cooling: air.
Diagram note: Average values for samples dia. 25 x 50 mm long, oil hardened at 800°C. N/mm2 and HB converted from HRC.
