LO-R 4153.03 Steel

Steel name: LO-R 4153.03
Diagram No.: 2539
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.80% C, 0.40% Si, 0.40% Mn, 12.50% Cr, 1.10% Mo, 0.90% V, 0.75% Nb
Steel group: Stainless tool steels
Properties: Niobium-alloyed stainless tool steel with good toughness and edge-holding properties.
Applications: The steel is mainly used for cutter knives due to its increased corrosion resistance. In addition, because of its slightly higher hardenability than 1.4153, it is recommended for all types of machine knives where the above properties are important. In case of higher requirements, especially in salt or acid containing media, it is recommended not to temper the tools above 400 °C. Otherwise, carbide precipitation on the grain boundaries can promote pitting corrosion.
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.

Heat Treatment
Hardening: 1040 – 1060 °C, oil /salt bath (180 – 220 °C).
Tempering: 490 – 520 °C.
