1.25C-0.30Si-0.30Mn-10.0Cr-0.80Mo-1.0V Steel

Steel name: 1.25C-0.30Si-0.30Mn-10.0Cr-0.80Mo-1.0V
Diagram No.: 2785
Chemical composition in weight %: 1.25% C, 0.30% Si, 0.30% Mn, 10.00% Cr, 0.80% Mo, 1.00% V, +Ti
Steel group: Cold work tool steels
Properties: This cold-work tool steel produced is a medium-chromium, air-hardening tool steel distinguished by high Ti content. This steel provides a very good combination of very high wear resistance under conditions of abrasion, while achieving a comparable or higher degree of toughness than SIHARD 2379 (AISI D2).
Applications: It is a general purpose tool steel and it can substitute SIHARD 2379 (AISI D2) in the majority of various cold-work tooling applications.
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.

Heat Treatment
Hardening: 1020 to 1070 C / air, oil or inert gas. To increase as quenched hardness by 2 to 4 HRC and dimensional stability after quenching, sub-zero treatment may be used; hardness in the as quenched condition may be increased when steel is cooled at temperatures below -40C (CO2).
Tempering: Temper immediately after quenching (when material reaches temp. 90-70 °C). At least two tempering treatments are recommended to achieve a uniform tempered microstructure. Slowly heat to reach tempering temperature. Holding time in furnace: 1 hour for every 25 mm of workpiece thickness, but 2 hours minimum. This is followed by air cooling. Recommended tempering temperatures are in the range of 450 to 550 °C.
