Heat Treatment
This study investigated the tempering hardness behavior of the differently manufactured tool steel X65MoCrWV3-2 in different heat-treated states. Hardness tests were performed on X65MoCrWV3-2 specimens in the initial state (SLM-densified), after tempering in the temperature range from 200 °C to 600 °C (3 x 2 h), as well as after quenching in water (TAust = 1050 °C, tAust = 15 min) and tempering. In order to evaluate the influence of the manufacturing process on the hardness of the steel, X65MoCrWV3-2 steel in the cast and forged condition was investigated after quenching and tempering.
Diagram note: In this study, martensitic cold-work tool steel X65MoCrWV3-2 was processed by selective laser melting (SLM) by varying the laser scanning parameters and baseplate preheating temperatures.
