Heat Treatment
Specimens machined from forged plates were heat treated in a horizontal vacuum furnace. After the last preheat (850 °C) the specimens were heated at a speed of 12 °C/min to the austenitizing temperature of 1030 °C, soaked for 15 min and gas quenched at a quenching speed of 3 °C/s. Specimens were quenched with nitrogen gas at a pressure of 1.05 bar. One set of samples was investigated in as quenched state. The others were additionally subjected to tempering. Firstly, all samples were tempered at 500 °C for 2 h. The second tempering was conducted also for 2 h at temperatures 520 °C, 550 °C, 580 °C, 610 °C and 640 °C for each set of samples.
