0.50C-4.50Cr-3.00Mo-0.55V Steel
Steel name: 0.50C-4.50Cr-3.00Mo-0.55V
Diagram No.: 85
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.50% C, 0.20% Si, 0.20% Mn, 4.50% Cr, 3.00% Mo, 0.55% V
Steel group: Hot work tool steels
Properties: Steel owes its excellent properties to a patented alloying concept and the electroslag remelting process.
Applications: For hot forming
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.
Heat Treatment
Hardening: 1050 °C/oil, salt bath (500 – 550 °C), air, vacuum furnace with gas quenching. Holding time after through-heating: 15 to 30 minutes.
Tempering: Slowly heat to tempering temperature immediately after hardening. Time in furnace: 1 hour for every 20 mm of workpiece thickness but at least 2 hours. Cool in air. We recommend that the steel be tempered at least 3 times.
