20MnCr5 Steel

Steel name: 20MnCr5
Diagram No.: 1520
DIN designation: 20MnCr5
Chemical composition in weight %: 0.17-0.22% C, 0.10-0.25% Si, 1.10-1.30% Mn, max. 0.025% P, max. 0.002% S, 1.00-1.20% Cr, 0.10-0.25% Ni, max. 0.08% Mo, 0.050-0.200% Al
Steel group: Case hardening steels
Applications: Case-hardening steel with low carbon content but good hardenability reaching good wear resistance due to high surface hardness after hardening. The small grain size benefits in good ductility and fatigue strength. Suitable for gearboxes and axle gears.
Comment: Similar designations: 20MnCrS5, 1.7147, 20MnCr4. Ms=385 C, Ac1=731 C, Ac3=831 C.
Reference: Not shown in this demo version.
