Etchant (Electrolyte) Composition: 2-30 g oxalic acid, 100 ml distilled water.
Procedure (Condition): Electrolytic, 2-12 A/cm2, 6-50 V dc, 2-60 s, stainless steel cathode. For alloy steels and tool steels use 0.2-0.3 A/cm2.
Note: Prior-austenite grain size etchant. Zablotskii and coworkers.
