Picklesimer's anodizing solution - Zr and alloys - Electrolytic etching
Material Name: Zr and alloys
Recipe No.: 11217
Primary Chemical Element in Material: Zr
Sample Type: Bulk
Uses: Etching
Etchant Name: Picklesimer's anodizing solution
Type (Macro/Micro): Micro
Etching Method: Electrolytic
Etchant (Electrolyte) Composition: 60 ml ethanol, 35 ml distilled water, 20 ml glycerin, 10 ml lactic acid, 5 ml H3PO4, 2 g citric acid.
Procedure (Condition): Use 20-140 V dc, 20 C, 5-10 s, specimen about 12.5 mm from stainless steel cathode.
Note: Anodizing solution. Only hydrides are colored at 20 V dc. Higher voltages color structure. Anodized oxide film is stable and preserves very well. Ambler used method on Zr3Al-based alloys at 95 C for 10 min.
