Etchant (Electrolyte) Composition: For cast alloy: a.) electrolytic etch in 2% hydrofluoric acid. b.) chemical etch in 0.5% hydrofluoric acid.
Procedure (Condition): Etch for fully heat treated alloy: 25% nitric acid at 70 C.
Note: 7075 alloy: 5.5-5.8% Zn, 2.1-2.6% Mg, 1.6-1.7% Cu.
